Aluminum Bismuth
Chemical Formula | Available Form | Description of the Product |
Bi – 3%, 6%, 8% , Al- balance | Piglet, Ingot, Waffle Plate | Al-Bi master alloy is used in Al-Cu and Al-Si-Mg alloy. Bi is added in Pb containing alloy with 1: 1 ratio because it has advantage of expansion on solidification and it compensate for the shrinkage of lead. Small additions of bismuth (20 to 200 ppm) can be added to aluminum-magnesium alloys to counteract the detrimental effect of sodium on hot cracking and also have a restricted solubility in solid aluminum and form a soft, low-melting phase that promotes chip breaking and helps to lubricate the cutting tool. |
